Which radio is in your Rover 25?

Rover fitted different radios over the years. Find your 25’s years below, but go by the serial: radios are often swapped, and the free check reads it for you.

How to find your Rover 25 radio serial number

The serial isn’t shown on the screen: it is printed on a label on the radio itself. The serial tells us exactly which code your radio needs.

Where it is

On the label

  1. Some radios show it: hold DISP or DISPLAY for a few seconds.
  2. Otherwise take the radio out and take a photo of the label.
  3. Copy all 14 letters and numbers, like BP3782R3701682.

Take a photo of the label rather than copying it by hand: it’s easy to mix up 0 and O, or 1 and I.

RADIOPush both keys in until they click, then pull the radio forward

Most radios slide out with a pair of radio removal keys (a few pounds from any car parts shop). Push them into the slots on the front until they click, then ease the radio forward. Some have screws to undo first.

Tips for your Rover 25

  • The maker’s name is on the front of the radio: a Blaupunkt CD43 we can do, a VDO one we can’t.
  • Two release keys take the radio out; the serial is on the label.
  • The free check reads the serial and tells you before you pay.

How to enter your Rover 25 radio code

Once you have your code, key it in like this. The example below shows the button presses. Your order page shows the same steps next to your code.

DISPLAY~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~!!!!!!CODE!!!!!!123456BUTTONS 1–6
Press button 1 twice for 2, button 2 five times for 5, button 3 eight times for 8, button 4 four times for 4, then hold button 5 for a couple of seconds to confirm.
  1. Buttons 1 to 4 each set one number.
  2. Hold button 5 (or the tuning knob) to finish.
  3. Won’t go above 1 for the first number? Use the second code we give you.

If your Rover 25 radio says LOCKED, WAIT or SAFE

Each wrong code makes the radio wait longer before the next try, and some radios lock for good after too many. Don’t guess: get the right code first, then follow the steps for your radio.

RadioWhat to do
Blaupunkt / BoschAfter a wrong code, most Blaupunkt radios make you wait before the next try, and the wait gets longer each time. Leave the radio switched on until it asks for the code again.
Rover / MG / Mini PhilipsErr or WAIT: the wait gets longer each time. Keep the radio switched on.

Why we use your radio’s serial, not your number plate

A radio code belongs to the radio, not the car. A dealer usually looks it up from the Rover 25’s number plate or VIN (the 17-character number in your logbook), which only works if the car still has the radio it left the factory with. Radios are often swapped under warranty, upgraded, or changed by a previous owner.

The serial number is printed on the radio itself, so the code we give you matches the radio in front of you. It is also how we can check it for free before you pay. Main dealers often charge £30–£130, and you usually have to book the car in.

Rover 25 radio code questions

Can you do a Rover 25 radio?

Yes, when it is the Blaupunkt CD32 or CD43 (serial starting BP) or an early Philips radio with an AR or RG serial.

Where is the serial?

On the label on the radio, so the radio has to come out.

My handbook code doesn’t work.

The book records the radio the car was built with. If the radio has been changed, go by the serial on the one that’s in there now.

How much is a Rover 25 radio code?

£9.99 per code. The free check comes first, so you only pay once we know we can do it, and you get your money back if the code doesn’t work.

How long does it take?

Most Rover 25 codes appear on screen the moment you’ve paid, and we email you a copy. If yours has to be looked up by our team, we email it within 2 hours and tell you before you pay.

What if the code doesn’t work?

Check the serial first: 0 and O, or 1 and I, are easy to mix up. Still stuck? Tell us from your order page and we’ll put it right or refund you in full.
