How to enter a Blaupunkt radio code

Which buttons set the numbers, which one finishes, and what the screen does if it is wrong.

Before you start

Get the code right first time if you can. Most radios allow a set number of tries and then lock themselves for an hour or more — and a few stop for good. If you are not certain of the code, stop and check the serial against the label rather than guessing.

Blaupunkt / Bosch

Units: BP, BO and PO prefixed units, plus the Blaupunkt-built Vauxhall and Opel radios that carry a GM serial
Fitted to: Many makes, including Vauxhall, Opel, Nissan, Ford, Peugeot, BMW and Rover, plus Blaupunkt’s own radios.

Getting the serial first

You need the code before any of this is any use, and the code comes from the serial.

  1. Some radios show it: hold DISP or DISPLAY for a few seconds.
  2. Otherwise take the radio out and take a photo of the label.
  3. Copy all 14 letters and numbers, like BP3782R3701682.

Putting the code in

  1. Buttons 1 to 4 each set one number.
  2. Hold button 5 (or the tuning knob) to finish.
  3. Won’t go above 1 for the first number? Use the second code we give you.

If it refuses the code: After a wrong code, most Blaupunkt radios make you wait before the next try, and the wait gets longer each time. Leave the radio switched on until it asks for the code again.

Getting the serial first

You need the code before any of this is any use, and the code comes from the serial.

  1. Read the label on the top or side of the sat nav radio.
  2. The serial starts BP or C7.
  3. Type in only the 7 numbers after BP or C7.

If the code is refused

Nine times in ten it is one of three things. The code belongs to a different radio, because the serial was misread — an O taken for a zero, or a 1 for an I. The numbers went in in the wrong order. Or the radio is already counting down from an earlier attempt and will not take anything until it clears.

Stop before you use up the tries. Read what the display is telling you first: LOCKED, WAIT, SAFE and ERR each mean something different, and most of them just want the ignition left on for an hour.
