Yes, free, for 6 years after you buy. Use Find my code with the email you paid with and we will send your order links again. Six years is how long we have to keep the order for tax, and we keep your code available for the whole of it. Sites that promise “lifetime” retrieval are promising something past the point where they are allowed to still hold your details.

Many radios show it on the screen when you hold two of the numbered buttons (on a Ford, 1 and 6 or 2 and 6). Others have it on a label on the radio. Pick your car brand for the exact steps, or send us a photo of the label.

Usually not for Ford, Renault, Toyota and Jaguar. On VW, Audi, SEAT, Škoda, Fiat and some Vauxhall radios, the serial is only on the label, so the radio has to come out.

Yes. Send us a photo of the label: pay £9.99, upload the photo, and we’ll find your code. If we can’t, you get a full refund.

Not reliably. The registration tells us the car, not the radio, and radios get swapped. That’s why we work from the serial on the radio itself.

It is a timed lock after wrong tries. Leave the radio (and usually the ignition) on until it clears — often 1 hour. See our locked radio guide.

The battery was disconnected or went flat, or the radio was removed. It is an anti-theft feature.

Tell us from your order page. If the serial you gave us matches your radio and the code does not unlock it, we fix it or refund you in full.

Fords from about 2008 on, Renault touchscreens, radios built by Nissan, and some serials we don’t have. The free check tells you before you pay.

No. Your order page link is your receipt and works for 6 years.

No. We do radio and sat nav codes and nothing else — no key PINs, no immobiliser bypass, no mileage. The answer is no whatever the reason given, and we would rather turn the work away than be the reason somebody drives off in a car that is not theirs.

No. A registration lookup is used once to identify the vehicle and is not stored.
