How to find your Škoda Fabia radio serial number
The serial isn’t shown on the screen: it is printed on a label on the radio itself. The serial tells us exactly which code your radio needs.
On the label
- Check the radio card in the handbook wallet first.
- Otherwise take the radio out with radio removal keys.
- Copy the serial from the label: 14 letters and numbers starting VWZ, AUZ, SKZ or SEZ.
Take a photo of the label rather than copying it by hand: it’s easy to mix up 0 and O, or 1 and I.
Most radios slide out with a pair of radio removal keys (a few pounds from any car parts shop). Push them into the slots on the front until they click, then ease the radio forward. Some have screws to undo first.
Tips for your Škoda Fabia
- Škoda often stuck a sticker with the serial inside the radio manual — worth a look before the radio comes out.
- The small single-height Beat radio takes two keys; Blues, Swing and Bolero usually need four.
- The radio name is printed on the front panel, which helps tell an older Bolero from a newer one.

- Buttons 1 to 4 set each number (press again to count up).
- Hold one of the arrow (seek) buttons for 2 seconds or more to finish.

Each wrong code makes the radio wait longer before the next try, and some radios lock for good after too many. Don’t guess: get the right code first, then follow the steps for your radio.

Why we use your radio’s serial, not your number plate
A radio code belongs to the radio, not the car. A dealer usually looks it up from the Škoda Fabia’s number plate or VIN (the 17-character number in your logbook), which only works if the car still has the radio it left the factory with. Radios are often swapped under warranty, upgraded, or changed by a previous owner.

On the label on the radio case, and often on a card or sticker in the handbook wallet. It starts SKZ.
Can you do a 2016 Fabia?
No. The Mk3 radios are matched to the car, so there is no serial code.
My Fabia radio says SAFE 1000.
