About Siemens VDO radio codes
Siemens VDO badged the later units in the Vauxhall CDR family — the CDR2005 and CDR2005E — where the earlier CDR500 and CDR500E were built by Delco. They are the same family and take the same kind of serial, so either badge leads to the same place.
How to find your Siemens VDO radio serial number
The serial isn’t shown on the screen: it is printed on a label on the radio itself. The serial tells us exactly which code your radio needs.
On the label
- The serial is not shown on screen.
- Take the radio out with radio removal keys (some have extra screws to undo first).
- Copy the serial from the label: 14 letters and numbers starting GM.
Photograph the label rather than copying it by hand — 0 and O, 1 and I are easy to mix up.
Most radios slide out with a pair of radio removal keys (a few pounds from any car parts shop). Push them into the slots on the front until they click, then ease the radio forward. Some have screws to undo first.

Only who built it. The CDR500 and CDR500E are Delco; the CDR2005 and CDR2005E are Siemens VDO. Same family, same serial scheme.
