Find the serial
- It is not shown on screen, so take the radio out.
- Copy the serial from the label (not the handbook): 14 letters and numbers starting RN.
- Buttons 1 and 6 show a code like A123? Type that in instead: it is a precode.
It isn’t shown on the display, so read it from the label on the radio’s case (usually the top or side).
Taking the radio out
The radio has to come out so you can read the label. Most slide out with a pair of radio removal keys (a few pounds from any car parts shop); some are held in by screws behind the trim. Photograph the label rather than copying it by hand.
Enter the code
- Buttons 1 to 4 set each number.
- Hold button 6 for about 5 seconds to finish.
Locked out?
Each wrong try adds a longer delay. Keep the radio powered while it counts down.
