About Kia radio codes
Kia fitted its own and Mobis-built head units, and their codes were never derived from the serial — they live in Kia’s records rather than in any formula. That means no calculator can produce one, whatever a site tells you. Many Kias from about 2010 do not use a radio code at all: the unit is matched to the car and simply plays again once power comes back. If yours is asking for a code, a Kia dealer can supply it against the VIN and proof the car is yours, and that is the honest route.

Why we use your radio’s serial, not your number plate
A radio code belongs to the radio, not the car. A dealer usually looks it up from the Kia’s number plate or VIN (the 17-character number in your logbook), which only works if the car still has the radio it left the factory with. Radios are often swapped under warranty, upgraded, or changed by a previous owner.
The serial number is printed on the radio itself, so the code we give you matches the radio in front of you. It is also how we can check it for free before you pay. Main dealers often charge £30–£130, and you usually have to book the car in.

Kia radio code questions
Can you get a Kia radio code?
Usually not, and we would rather say so up front. Kia codes were never worked out from the serial, so nobody can calculate one. Type your serial into the free check anyway — if the unit turns out to be a Blaupunkt or a Clarion we know, it will tell you.
My Kia radio is asking for a code after a battery change.
A Kia dealer can look it up against your VIN, usually with proof the car is yours. It is normally a small charge or free, depending on the dealer.
A website says it can generate a Kia code.
Be careful. There is no published method for these. Ask for the code before you pay, or use a service that checks first — which is what our free check is for.
How much is a Kia radio code?
